No he said his administration should be praised of which he is the head of. Its semantics. If his administration gets praise he does also.
Trump does not choose his words well. Its not up to him to decide what is an acceptable death figure. 100,000 deaths would be almost double where Italy is now when you compare deaths per 100,000 people. I don't think anyone thinks Italy deserves praise for how they are doing. Have numbers like South Korea or Japan and yes those governments deserve praise for doing a very good job under the circumstances.
He should only be concerned with doing the best job that he can. Let the chips fall in November and not have one eye the virus and one on the November election. If he was truly selfless it would be obvious. Look at Cuomo. I am not a fan of his politics but he is getting the testing done. The numbers in NY look huge compared to every other state. But he seems to be totally focused on the big picture and trying to keep people safe. That is why his approval is 87%.
you know, it's a bit surprising but also obvious those who AREN'T watching the press conferences. I watched yesterday, and say ... Friday's? (maybe Thursday). I missed the one the media has jumped on the "they should show some appreciation."
Anyhoo - you are correct of course that he needs to be more "Presidential", but at the same time we've known all along he wouldn't be.
To me, the inflammatory thing he said yesterday was answering the same question again - paraphrasing "Inslee - I don't talk to him because he's said bad things, he's a failed candidate. So no, I don't talk to him. I tell Mike Pence - you talk to him. And he does."
FDA issues emergency authorization of anti-malaria drugs for coronavirus care
The Food and Drug Administration on Sunday issued an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, decades-old malaria drugs championed by President Donald Trump for coronavirus treatment despite scant evidence.
The agency allowed for the drugs to be “donated to the Strategic National Stockpile to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible,” HHS said in a statement, announcing that Sandoz donated 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to the stockpile and Bayer donated 1 million doses of chloroquine.
And we let it run wild in a Petri dish with little means of help and I'm not sure of the food situation. It is a bad idea and we are likely to see it be the new Princess cruise. It isn't about foreigners, these are human beings and you are saying possibly sentencing them to death. Gov. DeSantis is going to have these added deaths on his hand. He is worse than DeBlasio.
Would you rather expose 330,000,000 Americans to these idiots? No-keep them and the bug on the ship. Or send it back to the country of origin. Cruise lines should have been shut down weeks ago. Now, even on the Princess cruise, the number of cases was "manageable". More importantly, it was contained to the ship.
Another thought might be a mandatory quarantine at a secure military facility. I wonder if Gitmo has room for some medical tents?

The FDA bureaucracy is getting people killed. They could have done that weeks ago, when data from other countries came in. Now-just why haven't clinical trials been completed? The FDA has caused a lot of harm in this outbreak.
Trump attacked health care workers this morning blaming them for his administration's utter failure to prepare for a pandemic crisis. These poor workers out there working, exhausted and dying while this so-called president insults them. There are not words so strong in our language to describe what a piece of garbage this man is.
presumably, there's some link. doesn't look like he's tweeted in 15 hours
He can’t. The Posse Comitatus act prohibits using the US military in that manner.
no, that's not at all clearly resolved. if the military was used to enforce a quarantine, NY would sue and the SC would decide whether it was constitutional.
I agree with you-close the ports and keep this monstrosity at sea and let the bug run it's course on it. The people boarded long after it was known that cruise ships were prime breeding grounds for this. Send food and supplies, but keep it secure!
A Hillary might say, at this point what does it matter? The boat is headed to Florida where hundreds if not thousands of infected New Yorkers have fled bringing it with them, leading to a widespread outbreak. At least the passengers on the ship are a known risk that can be managed. At a minimum, we can take off the 300 or so Americans and then shove it back out to sea.
