Stanford biophysicist and Nobel laureate Michael Levitt says that based on how the COVID-19 crisis has played out in multiple countries, the threat is less severe than the media has portrayed it to be and might be over sooner than most think. “The real situation is not as nearly as terrible as they make it out to be,” Levitt says, and, in the end, “we’re going to be fine.”

Their positive rate on test is like 3x higher than national average (8% vs 27% or something like this last I saw)

If they were overtesting then they would have a lower % not higher.

Rich old guys: "Let's get back to work."

Read: As we stay safe in quarantine in our gated communities, away from most people...while all you hourly workers get to work, getting our profits back on track. A lot of you will get sick and/or die, but that's a chance we're willing to take.

My point was that this is no longer a localized issue, so cutting off a few select regions does nothing to stop the spread.

there's no 'parsing' required. only the true LWNJs persist in insisting that he called the virus itself a hoax.

I read it, heck I even underlined what I was responding to.

"Him" ="his response to the virus"
People complaing =/= "hoax"

I think I can speak for most people when I say I certainly hope this is the case.

However, when looking at Italy I would think you might have some caution. To put that in perspective, Italty is having a 9/11 EVERY DAY.

Do you think a 9/11 every day is not a "thing"??? Why?

On the other hand, a site like you have quoted with headlines like
"Kirstie Alley Thanks President Trump For Coronavirus Leadership, Rips Leftists Scolding Her"

Isn't exactly the CDC.

Hasn't the media been telling us that the goal now is to "flatten the curve"?

Yes and no. One reason New York City is a hot spot is the layout of the city and the necessary interaction of people. Florida is more spread out.

My God. Our country really is being led by a group of clowns.

Trump wants Americans to go back to work, but practice social distancing.

As you said, Trump, a silver spoon man of privilege who has had limo service his entire life, has probably never commuted on a New York City Subway. A quick google search shows that 2.6 million people use the subway in New York City every single day. 2.6 million people sitting in train cars, packed like sardines. Has anyone in the GOP never seen a picture of a typical NYC train during rush hour?

And what about retail? People back to sitting in restaurants, standing in line behind each other, thousands of people touching the same door handles, debit card machines, cashiers handling cash, etc, etc.

How stupid is Donald Trump?
