Well the new Italy numbers are in for the last 24 hours, the new case numbers seem to be consistent over the last few days, but then again are they testing the same amount of people everyday, are they increasing the amount they test everyday, that puts those numbers in some sort of context?

Yea, the number of new cases needs context. If they are increasing the number of tests, then you could say it is flat lining or maybe declining, but if it about the same number of tests, it is either flat lining but more likely increasing.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and declare this OP a thread fail.
The numbers of cases are clearly dropping in Italy. When this thread started the comments were it had only been 2 or 3 days. We are now on 8 days. It is hard to get data on how many tests daily are given but I doubt the number of tests given daily are dropping quickly. Unless there is simply less people getting sick.
I'm sorry, but 600-900 daily deaths for the past week is not good news at all. Once the same thing happens in the US will you trot out the same dumb talking points, trying to downplay the situation? Please refrain from posting since you don't seem to care much about the DEATH toll, which is what most people are really worried about. The OP was originally saying that ~600 deaths meant 'flattening'... oops!
You do realize that most of the hardest hit places in Italy are in the northern/rich part, right? And that world class hospitals, many of which are better than what you'd get in the US, have been completely overwhelmed? Have you ever even been to Italy? It's a member of the G-8..
I'm not sure what your point is as the entire country is shutdown. Yes the Northern part was hit harder but it is also spreading rapidly in the south, so? Their economy was having much more difficulty than us before this hit so my point was if they are taking strong measures we can do the same, we are in much better shape financially.
Yes I've been to Italy, why is that important. It is a member of the G-7 (no longer the G-8)
Italy isn't a poor country. It's got the third biggest economy in Europe and it's high on the HDI. What are you even talking about anymore?
Italy has the 4th biggest economy and 4th biggest population. But their personal GDP is 18th just ahead of Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
They are poor compared to other Western European countries.
