If there is a way to open up the country and the cases and mortality rate continues to go down would you then agree it was a good idea?
Not here but it seems like people on FB seem to enjoy this. The unknown, not having to go to work.

On another note, do you agree closing down the border early on did help it not spread as fast.

Some people want the economy to crash because they think it will sink Trump's reelection.

When did the mortality rate go down ? And how can it go down when it has not even peaked yet and isn't being dealt with the right way?

I meant if it went down after we opened back up the country.

Is there no acceptable level of risk on planet Earth?

Speaking only for people I know, some of them are talking about every positive thing they can think of; and some people seem to truly be relishing the terror and are trying to whip up a panic. And they get really, really frustrated if you try to say Italy is not the norm. Talking about mid May when all our hospitals will be closed down and people will be dying in the parking lots trying to break in to steal respirators. Honestly, there are people who are enjoying that, in a grief porn way.

Because the rate of increase is still exponentially increasing. People are dying, and most are NOT elderly, but 30-45 year olds.

ONLY self-isolation works. The pain will be a lot shorter than opening things up to early. It's insanity to think otherwise. Yes, the economy will suffer, badly, but it will recover, and it will have more healthy and living people in it to help it grow.

Do you have a reliable mainstream link for that?

The average age of people dying in Italy is in the 80's.

This article in the New York Times, written 2 days ago, states that 80% of the fatalities from Novel Corona are in people 65 and older, whereas that demographic is only 16% of the population.

The article goes on to say we shouldn't be hard-hearted and discount elderly people, as expendable. Well-written.

Buy on anticipation, and sell upon the news.

That wisdom has guided and enriched the more astute among us from time immemorial, and it applies to simple business and street-life as much as it does to the financial world; (and of course, those obsessed with security, and the mongers of fear who pander to them will oppose it all the way to the bank).

Or the poorhouse -- the choice is ours.
