The few times I am ever sick I always thought I caught it from somewhere I got take-out. Although I would really like pizza from the great new place nearby, I'm holding off for now. It's unfortunate. Now, if I look in the window and see everyone wearing masks and gloves, I might feel differently....but still...
We are a high risk household so we're not doing takeout/meal delivery.
Have had a couple instacart grocery deliveries and we're wiping down the groceries themselves before putting them away, which is so freakin weird to do.
It's more to do with touching the same surfaces. Your still gonna probably need to touch a handle, touch a container or bag.
Bet mitigation is to wash youur hands an disinfect every surface touched by you and that person from the containers and bags, to your car door, steering wheel, light switches and front door knob.
Textbook example of overreaction to the absurd media saturation about this one thing.
I don't think it's absurd at all. I've had the same worry. We are lecturing people to maintain social distancing and to wash your hands almost obsessively, but thinking about what kind of hygiene the people preparing our food are practicing is overreaction?
I've decided not to do take out for that very reason.
It's a risk but not much you can do about it. I had Indian takeout and delivery within the last few days and I was fine. But then, I don't live in a city or neighborhood with high coronavirus rates so I'm lucky.
Well, you think you're fine. Incubation can range between five and 14 days.
Use gloves and wipe down the outside of the containers with lysol wipe. Throw the bag away. Let the container dry. Remove gloves and wash hands. Move food to a new, clean plate or container. Nuke it for a minute or two.

Yeah our garage is essentially serving as our 'airlock'. Bags from the outside never make it through into the house. Remove boxes/bags, clean items themselves, clean door handles, etc before anything from the outside gets in.
Wife is a cancer patient with asthma that had recent surgery...not taking any chances. Don't care who says we're overreacting.
To put it frankly, I would stay far away from any company (restaurant or otherwise) that has refused to cover paid sick leave for its employees due to the virus.
It might be a question to ask before placing an order...
Is it dangerous? You don’t know if the person giving you the bags has coronavirus. Even if you order food online you don’t know if the cook has coronavirus.
If the takeout is fried and you're among the plethora of Americans who are obese, it is.
