I think all doctors who do this should be taken upon ethics charges when this is all done.
You are coming off a tad hysterical.

Many people are cancelling appointments and avoiding proximity to anything healthcare related.

Many medical offices are reducing hours and/ or consulting via phone.

Some MDs are deploying to increase capacity in critical locations.

Someone is my community went on a public rant on the Nextdoor app about her Dermatologist’s reduced hours because she needed a Botox touch up.

Are all MDs closing all offices?

I don’t think so.

If you have a true emergency call 911.

It may be, as it is in Maryland, that the closure is part of a State of Emergency if your Governor declared one. Doctor and dentist offices here are closed except for emergencies.

According to this “ healthcare” is deemed an essential service in Maryland.

No!!!!

Very few practices are closing. Elective surgeries have been cancelled in most states.

There will be consequences for physicians who shirk their duties.

I think that in retrospect there may be hospital or state board sanctions against those who did not do their duty. I am immunosuppressed from cancer treatment and am still showing up.
No I am not in the medical field- this is for those who feel they must be served. We do not know why that Dr closed shop - he may be ill with the virus himself, but the attitude of the client is over the top. I expect everyone to try to fulfill their commitments wether it’s medical or not. If I do not show, there must be a good reason. Should people also not give the benefit of the doubt ?

Duties? Are they in the military? I am friends with my Doc and I still wouldn't expect him to come running if I lived in an infected house.

Most Drs love to help and cure people. It’s their calling or their passion. I thank God for them. But people need to be considerate of others. I think the OP is upset they are not being attended to as they are accustomed. Well we are in a medical crisis! Nothing is normal.

Is this legal?
Why don't you LOOK UP your local "Public Heath" site to ask advice??

Many small Medical offices ( if you are an actual patient) will notify you on alternate ways to seek medical advice or care?? Course it's obvious, you have Zero CLUE that there is a Medical EMERGENCY going on!!

Anyone with a minimum of experience SHOULD know what's going on..

OP~~ Asking about legal implications surrounding immediate circumstances> only shows your LACKINGS!!

Call your local Public Health person/ or maybe you should call 911 ?? National/International Pandemic seems rather HIGH priority presently.. Good luck with your "Law Suit" of your "Doctor", ROFLMAO
