I had been our medical responsibility for at least the 4 decades I was involved as an internist.

This is definitely a difficult time for the medical services. Hopefully we'll get our resources mobilized in short order so we can better deal with this crisis. A summer lull would also help provide a much-needed break to better prepare for the pandemic's return in September, so I'm hoping for that to happen.

There's a story on the medical staff impact in NPR: https://www.npr.org/2020/03/28/82222...h-and-families

Earlier in my career I was the Senior for a 'Big Eight' accounting firm that audited one of the largest hospital systems in the entire United States. And even though this healthcare system was 'Non-Profit' all its Administrators were making beaucoup dinero! I knew as I was privy to all accounting records and saw what everyone was making.

These hospital 'Administrators' make outrageous money compared to the nurses and other healthcare workers that actually do the work to take care of others! Just take a look at some of today's exorbitant annual pay for 'Non-Profit' Hospital execs:
  • Banner Health (Phoenix), paid its top executive $21.6 million.
  • Memorial Hermann Health (Houston) paid its top executive $18.2 million.
  • Kaiser Foundation (Oakland, Calif.) paid its top executive $10.7 million.
  • Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (Chicago) paid its top executive $10.6 million.
During the current crisis these fools and their underlings are safely self-isolating at home while the poor frontline healthcare workers, who take an oath to place the welfare of others above their own, expose themselves and others to possible death!

So I don't want to hear ANY excuses for these hospitals not providing the basic Personal Protective Equipment for these brave men and women - it's the very LEAST these paper-pushing cowards can do!
