New York City and Long Island will be easy to quarantine, easier than the lockdown in the 21 Bridges movie. Just block all the bridges and tunnels leading out to the west and Long Island can be part of the quarantine zone.
However I do think New Orleans needs to be quarantined too, many people from there have left the area. Florida is now checking cars at the border and Florida and Texas all require people from the immediate NO area to quarantine for 14 days and now New Orleans people are heading to other parts of Louisiana and we're very concerned. I understand the media optics of it given the blocked bridges after the Katrina aftermath but its necessary.
The Bronx is part of the mainland so while it could in theory work for Long Island and the other boroughs it wouldn't for The Bronx. Also on a per capita basis Westchester has more cases.
Cuomo should have done it on his own accord weeks ago, but he refused to order shelter in place. Now, decent NYers are dying in great numbers. Cuomo prioritized revenue or life. Shameful.
This is hilarious. Remember what Trump was saying weeks ago? It could be Cuomo believed him. Whats shameful is that Trumps made it clear that he values revenue over people, and in the last day also indicated that he values governors kissing his behind over people. LITERALLY. If they dont kiss his behind, he wont talk to them. And somehow you want to point to Cuomo? Thats shameful right there.
Bottom line however is this....its probably a bit late to quarantine the city, This stuff should have been done weeks ago, but our leadership is incompetent, and ignoring science. Its still worth doing probably (Id want to ask experts).

Given how people are in the US, it would be better to tell everyone to get out and go around ass much as possible, and in turn they will do opposite and sit at home. because "the government cannot tell me what to do!"
Trump just suggested the possibility of quarantining at least part of these three states. This card-carrying Trump-hater actually thinks this is a good idea. This is what China did with Wuhan and Hubei province (along with quite a few other measures). The only problem is he should have just done it without announcing the possibility first. Now, sure as water is wet anyone left in the area with means to flee will try to do so.

Exactly. This shutdown only works if the whole country does it. Everyone is failing us. There are hundreds of thousands of human ticking time bombs walking around every American city/town right now.
