"half the world". No, only the conservative anglosphere world has a predominately negative view of Meghan. Due to the campaign started by conservative media elements in UK and taken up by their allies in American media. Anglosphere liberals, Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America either like her or just don't care at all.

Definitely wrong for the US to foot any expense for a UK royal family to plant their feet in a different country.
Any royal family from a different country that wants to live in US full-time should provide their own security detail.


Personally, I find it very wrong for a royal couple to live in another country. It's not like the UK is in a war or civil unrest where they need to flee. I'd feel the same way if the Queen married a regular American guy and the American kept nagging for her to move away from the royal family. Traditions are being broken too often and not respected.
