Well, that seems kind of mean-spirited, especially considering they mishandled the outbreak in the first place, to the point of international pandemic.

As disturbing as this is, society in the Mainland PRC has evolved into a society of "money first" over the last 35 years. And this isn't limited to Mainland PRC.

And you'll notice, they are not dying of mass food shortages/famines or civil wars anymore. There's a reason they think that way. They have advanced beyond being a third world nation where the most immediate concern is food security. Now they have a taste for money, and they want more. And being that some people are downright evil, some will do unethical things to acquire more money.

Yes, they learned how to build an advanced level society where the majority no longer has to live on a bowl of rice a day. How terrible of our capitalists for helping them to raise their standard of living. We should totally ask for forgiveness

No, but there are other problems that go on. Other unethical things go on that other result in people getting sick or dying. Right now, the problem isn't so much food security, but many places do things that wouldn't be allowed elsewhere. Among those things is putting poisonous materials in certain products. Granted, this happens in other countries as well. My point is this. Selling back those masks was not only unethical, those masks were meant for people in China that needed them. Doing this is indicative of other problems that exist.

There is a difference between capitalism and being morally corrupt. Money is important, but when you worship money enough to do corrupt things, it's a big problem.
