At the very least, we need to ban the outsourcing of manufacturing medical supplies and drugs to China, and preferrably have a mandate that at least a certain percent of our medications and medical supplies and devices MUST be manufactured in the USA. Now we're seeing the result of the liberals' trade agreements and the lack of American manufacturing capacity which is why we have a shortage of PPE in hospitals.

The problem isn't so much the manufacturing in China as it is the concentration of manufacturing in China. A well distributed manufacturing and supply chain would be ideal. Multiple countries and locations are better than a single one.

Not too long ago, we were running low on IVs even though they were largely American manufactured (PR). We have a shortage of toilet paper on shelves (although not a true shortage) even though toilet paper is manufactured in North America.

REPUBLICANS TO THE RESCUE! We're all over it...we got this. TN Senator Marsha Blackburn's bill does just what you ask for:

Meanwhile, the Libs were delaying the Covid-19 stimulus funding whilst they tried to cram 10 years worth of unrelated pork into it. There's blood on your hands Nancy Pelosi!

Correct.

China is a consumer of US goods. Also US farm products.

GM sells more Buicks in China then the USA.

Some folks live in a sheltered fantasy world.

Here is the NAFFTA vote by political party.

Guess what party had the most votes for passage.

And no, it wasn't the Democrats.

Nice.

Also glad to see all the righties standing in line to tell businesses how they have to do the free market capitalism they so love. Why can’t Walmart make deals wherever they want?

Free markets have no morals. Ever.

Lets just ignore what has been happening the past 22 years when Republicans strongly supported giving China MFN status and keeping that way.

Republicans to the rescue... Its too late for that. The damage has been done. They sat idle just like the Democrats as China took more and more of our manufacturing away from us. Sorry but I don't trust either party who sat idle for decades with China who is now saying they are here to help us.

Both parties have been at fault.
Trump dragged a portion of the republican party kicking and screaming to his side on this issue, but now just a few years later it is almost unanimously supported. Well except for a few people like Romney who had a carrer profiting off this.
