NY and similar states are just later in the curve. Other states are earlier in the curve. It will spread through the other states... hopefully slower than it did in NY.
Most likely, the East Coast or California will come up with the vaccine because they have the most brains and money!
NYC is projecting per Cuomo 16k dead. At time when same experts say nation 100-240k ead.
So NYC, under 3% US population, per Cuomo expects 7-16% of Us dead via covid. That means, per his estimates NYC will have per capita losses of between 200-500% US average.
We need to stop the baloney that this will affect the nation equally.
It will affect cattle car density cities disproportionately.
That may change US patterns of living for decades to come.
As of April 1 there are more Coronavirus deaths in the single state of New York than in all 17 Western States from the eastern borders of ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, and TX. The mid-West and West it seems has a chance of saving itself from the worst of the ravages of Corona. The eastern half of the nation I'm afraid to say is a basket case. I don't know if anything can save them. The infected on the east coast may decide to flee west and bring the worst of Corona with them.

Why won't the federal government let coronavirus patients into the Javits and the USS Comfort? This is not happening in California and they have far fewer patients.
Big cities are going to be hit hard. This virus is in all states and it's only just beginning in some of these states.
Well said Natalie! North Carolina now has as many cases as New Jersey had last week. I'd expect the number of cases in Florida to explode next week due to their dimwit governor and the high proportion of elderly residents.
When you have that many people cramped together in one place, social distancing is not even possible. Not sure what you were expecting to happen? It was known early on that the large, densely packed cities were going to see the worst of this mess.
I'm not fixing blame, just making an observation that it seemed inevitable New York and other eastern states would get hit the hardest because of circumstances beyond their control. It a matter of good or bad fortune where an American landed when this hit. The west may become a safe harbor as the east comes unhinged.

The ship being used for other patients so that the hospitals can concentrate on the infected patients. It makes sense because the ships seem to have closer quarters that allow for easier spread. Look at what is happening on other Navy ships.
Until you or a loved one get it and are hospitalized. Even if you don’t die this is a nasty virus. Even your Dear Leader has had to admit that this is the real deal.
