Why Taiwan? Or do you mean China?

They never announce new infection for 2-3 days .. actually I Guess the numbers in almost all countries are well below the reported numbers .. including Singapore

China .. ermm their numbers of local infections are doubtful .. but true are taking steps to report asymptotic infections too

I was amazed at japans low numbers with its urban density. I thought it may be fudging numbers to keep Olympic hopes alive but they have done a good job.

The actual numbers are probably higher than they are reporting, but I have no reason to doubt that the virus is not bad there. If it was bad, you would see crowded hospitals like Spain and New York.

This. Taiwan has a severe mistrust of China.
They started screening passengers/restricting travel from Wuhan and then China faster than any other country by far.

Taiwan is a democratic country, and it doesn't have a reason to hide anything. More freedom of information in Taiwan than in PRC.

Nobody really knows how good a job Japan is doing because they've done virtually no testing. As of yesterday they'd only conducted 30,000 tests, and only on those who are highly symptomatic. Illinois alone with less than 1/10th the population has done more testing than all of Japan has.

Agree with everyone else. Taiwan acted quickly and prevented a catastrophe. And Taiwan REALLY doesn't like the Chinese government, so...

It's a really small country and travel between the mainland and Taiwan was already difficult (tourism illegal for Chinese citizens under most circumstances). I was shocked they had a couple of cases early on, but Taiwanese nationals do travel to China for business, so that makes some sense. There was a lot of noise in the news about Taiwan nationals wanting to go home from Wuhan, and the (Taiwanese) government would not allow them to travel back home. Most cases would be coming indirectly, via the USA or Korea for example.

I think they could manage it, if they are smart about it. We could have managed it here to some better extent than we have, but the genie is out of the bottle.
