"When President Donald Trump weighed the options earlier last year to address the political and humanitarian consequences of Nicolás Maduro’s tight grip on power in Venezuela, he realized his harsh rhetoric against the South American leader was not backed up by a show of force in the region.
That was corrected Wednesday, as Trump, surrounded by the country’s top officials, announced an expanded military presence near the Venezuelan shores that had been unseen for decades.
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, National Security Council Director Robert O’Brien and Attorney General William Barr all said during the press conference that the additional military is meant to crack down on “counternarcotics operations,” but is also aimed at denying funds to Maduro and his closest allies, who have been recently indicted in the U.S. on drug trafficking charges."
A testament to German quality. A Venezuelan navy ship fired shots at a German-owned cruise ship and rammed into the passenger vessel, leading to the sinking of the warship in the Caribbean. The cruise ship sustained minor damages.

t.d.s. Germany vis Venezuela ,I see nothing in the story about Trump other than your mud raking
We'd have to know what was on the ship...who was owning it at the time and what they were up to. If the ship didn't ID itself and.or have a manifest and purpose it could have totally been rogue.
The Patrol Vessel made the stupid mistake of hitting that bulb in front.
Leased by a now defunct expedition company in Canada.
Passengers were dumped in Buenos Aires a few months ago.
Likely it shed inessential crew, too.
I am sticking with my theory it gassed up in Venezuela and took off.

or..........conflicting conspiracy theory; Maduro had paid that cruise ship to take on a huge cargo of illegal drugs from their warship and it all went wrong when they collided.........

"The report of the planned deployment comes two days after one of Venezuela’s naval patrol boats sank after colliding with a Portuguese-flagged cruise ship near the Venezuelan-controlled island of La Tortuga. Maduro accused the ship of acting aggressively and said it was possibly carrying “mercenaries” seeking his ouster.
“You have to be very naive to see this as an isolated incident,” Maduro said Tuesday night on state TV.
But Columbia Cruise Services, the operator of the cruise ship, said the patrol boat fired gunshots and than purposely rammed into the liner at speed. There were no passengers on board and none of its 32 crew members were injured, the company said."

Now, Trump is in the story --- happy now.
So um....you're saying that we're somehow hiding our ships inside of other peoples ships like Russian nesting dolls?
Or that you can mistake a cruise liner for a US naval warship?
I mean you can add a link to Jack Blacks quarantine dance while you are at it but that doesn't suddenly make him the captain of the German ship either.
This incident had nothing to do with Germany or Trump.
Now this I would have to agree with.
No question something *weird* happened there but it could literally be anything.
