PBS: "COVID-19 may not discriminate based on race - but U.S. healthcare does" (stats, suspect)

Even in the midst of this crisis, liberal establishment media trudges ahead with its pet project - teaching minorities to hate whites and America. In this case, PBS has taken the group which is actually hardest hit by the pandemic (health care professionals) and made them out to be villains whose racism will cause members of the "black and brown community" to die unnecessarily.
I disagree. Trump is an equal opportunity killer of all races with his mish-mash of "solutions" that leave states in charge of stay at home orders. Each state makes a decision.
Right now their are eight states that have either no stay at home order or a watered down order---all are red states.
And speaking of water, that is Trump's plan for America's approach to coronavirus. We are like a swimming pool that has designated "pee in the pool" areas to keep all swimmers safe.
The initial focus was on those who recently travelled abroad, and
Celebrities and politicians sometimes received priority when it came to testing.
Neither has anything to do with race/ ethnicity.
People with low incomes are more likely to live in multi- generational homes than those with higher incomes. Grandma is more likely to be present in a household with children, teens and young adults, many of whom ignored social distancing and gathering guidelines, regardless of race or ethnicity. NYC, like most places was challenged by younger people who continued to gather, play basketball, use playground equipment , etc. There are reasons why most local governments have had to tape off equipment, remove hoops, close parks and disburse young people. It has nothing to do with race or ethnicity.
The Dr is also right that black and brown people are potentially more vulnerable to Covid-19 complications because of obesity related disease, much of which could be mitigated with controlling weight.
I don’t know if black and brown people are treated differently than other people by healthcare workers. I have not observed this and I am a long time hospital volunteer. My observations, like anyone’s are anecdotal.
I think there is an increasing disconnect between patient expectations and delivery and it has nothing to do with race or ethnicity. That disconnect may be exacerbated when the patient declines to take any responsibility for their own health.
This Dr is obviously smarter than the average bear. She graduated from Harvard She is an MD. She is a professor at a prestigious medical school.and she has likely faced raw racism throughout her life, including from those who believe the only way she got opportunity was through affirmative action, instead of working her butt off.
Likely if we had walked in her shoes, we might view life through a racial/ ethnic lens, too.

...she's claiming that people like you - middle-aged mom nice white lady hospital volunteers and other healthcare workers - will cause blacks and browns to die unnecessarily of COVID-19 due to your racism. And you lap it up.
Race/ ethnicity is important but not for the reasons stated. Some races/ ethnicities are more or less vulnerable to certain diseases.
Earlier this week, one of the cable news franchises interviewed a ER MD at a NY hospital. He claimed no fear or concern for his own health because he read in a Chinese journal of medicine that those with Type O blood seemed to have an immunity to Covid-19 and he was Type O.
My point here is that the more we know about each person tested, the more we know about the virus, how to treat it and a vaccine down the road.
Politician rhetoric and writing seeks to appeal to a base, always. Play to fears and resentments and convince the masses only you can make it all better.
