Recent surge in unemployment claims came too late to be counted in government report, so this figure is before most of the unemployment claims came in. The actual number is now much higher.

Yes. Unfortunately the real picture is far worse than the 700K jobs lost, because the March reference period ends in March 12, so it does not include the 10 million jobs lost in past two weeks. April jobs report will be the worst in US history, and it's not even close. It will show 15-20 million jobs lost.

Shutting down the economy has serious consequences, and the people responsible for it will have to own it even if they insist it was the right (and only) thing to do.

It will get a lot worse. Just think of the real estate sector and investors with investment properties who have shaky fundamentals and no longer get rent on the 1st.

We have a highly leveraged economy, built on debt and a high velocity of the dollar bill.

Yes. My wife and I are in medical and we're even on furlough. Nearly all industries are affected.

Well you got what you were hoping for. It still doesn’t mean Trump will lose.

Monopoly with carte blanche power says you can't go to work.

What did you expect?

What priorities you have. People are having their retirement savings wiped clean, people are being laid off, people are dying, and the economy might dive into a depression - but you can only think about Trump being re-elected. Did he offer you a spot in his cabinet?

I'm not the one gleefully posting threads about the unemployment numbers. That's coming from people whose singular purpose on this message board has been to bash Trump for the past three years.

This must awaken all of us to just how badly the world's greatest economy can be ravaged by a vicious disease from a foreign country.

This is what unfettered globalism does to you and your country. Remember that.

People understand the downturn in employment and the economy is from a black swan event caused by Chinese malevolence or Chinese cultural nastiness or Chinese incompetence. Any way you slice it, they own it.
