I had said this all along. Trump was fine to offer the stimulus check, but all along I thought it wasn't enough to offer two, let alone one check. Today Senator Bernie Sanders proposed $2,000 a month until the Covid-19 crisis is over.

Call it what you want, socialist, Marxist. I don't care, it is what the American public NEEDS to keep from healthcare bankruptcies, foreclosures and lock-outs because so many people are out of work whether they can get unemployment or not.

Where’s the money from THAT supposed to come from? I know you said you don’t care, but eventually, it will be time to pay the piper - with massive inflation and tax rates of 50% or more on the middle class. That will also drive bankruptcies and cause an economic collapse.

I don’t disagree, but we need to have a solid, non negotiable plan is place to put this revenue back once the economy recovers. And that means EVERYONE from the cocktail waitress to the ceo and shareholders will have to tighten the belt for a couple of years to make it up.

If it wasn't stolen from people in the first place it wouldn't be "needed" to be given back now.

Just sayin'

I like what the UK did. Allow employers to get access to bailout money to pay their employees provided they don't lay anyone off.

But the UK government functions more for the everyman while ours doesn't.

Way ahead of you, negotiating with the virus not to infect me as we speak.

You mean health insurance deductibles ?

BCBS sent me an email. $0 out of pocket for anything covid-19 related

From my email:

"To better serve you during the COVID-19 crisis, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will waive all out-of-pocket costs related to in-network COVID-19 medical treatment through June 1, effective immediately."

$2,000 a month or $600 a week UI. Apples and apples. As a more targeted approach I lean more towards the UI. Some people are still working and don't need $2,000 a month. Some people are retired and don't need $2,000 a month. Sure, everyone can use an extra $2,000 a month but it's not magic funny money.

I think that money needs to go to people who need it, not an overall blanket. And I say that as someone who would not take it despite my husband not working after the middle of next week. We don't *need* that money and would not apply for it. He isn't going to apply for UI. We are fortunate enough that my salary will cover our bills and groceries, plus we have savings. I don't want to see a "universal income" type situation during this crisis; I want to see money going to the people who are struggling to pay their mortgage/rent and put food on the table.

I would vote for $50,000 dollars. Just give everybody a million dollars already!
