At his press conference today, Cuomo said NY ordered 17,000 ventilators from China, but the order never came through.
He then said:
China is remarkably the repository for all of these orders--ventilators, PPE. It all goes back to China. Which long-term, we have to figure out why we wound up in this situationwhere we don't have the manufacturing capacity in this country. I understand the supply-chain issues; I understand the cost of manufacturing, but there's a public health reason, as we've all learned the hard way, why we need the capacity, in this country, to do this. But, anyway, it all comes back to China. [emphasis added]
While Cuomo's pointing fingers, he should save one for himself.
Liberals push for globalism ain't working so well in this Covid crisis, is it? America is literally depending on the country that started this crisis, China, to save Americans' lives.
It's come home to roost--globalism. We've done it to ourselves. Our dependence on China, and other countries, should end, now. America is only as strong and capable as its ability to protect and save itself.
Cut all ties with China. Bring back manufacturing to USA. We need the jobs and products that are made to our standards.

Yeah it's a shame that so few things are manufactured in the US.
On the other hand, I doubt millennials want to be factory workers. Eventually you have to import workers from Mexico or India anyway.

Maybe we shouldn't put burdensome taxes on businesses to the point where they have to go elsewhere to function... and make it more expensive to make product elsewhere.
Gov. Cuomo has been perpetrating a fraud and a cover-up with his press briefings !!!
His latest attempt is particularly notable as he try's to sugarcoat his latest criminal scheme to seize ventilators with an IOU !!! He comes across like an old used car salesman !!! He tells everyone NY is broke, no money !!! Then says NY will pay for the ventilators or return them when they are done with them.
I've never sold anything to someone who was broke !!! No one who was broke ever paid me for anything either !!! No money, no honey !!!
NY was mismanaged from the start by Cuomo and if they pay for anything its the juice they squeeze out of the Federal Gov. The Federal Gov. should not be bailing out NY for its passed mismanagement !!! It taxed the be-jeepers out of people and squandered the money !!! They were all for healthcare for noncitizens and its the citizens they want to put on the hook again !!!
In a recent interview with a female frontline EMT, she described what she is encountering and its nothing like what Gov. Cuomo is putting out in his press briefings !!! Someone is lying that's for sure !!!

The real issue is the lack of preparation for a pandemic. Its too late to start producing stuff when it hits the fan whether the production is in China or in America. The equipment needs to be in stock ready for use. That has nothing to do with manufacturing. That has to do with preparation.

Yes, we also need to deregulate the food industry a little more. Its too burdensome and with less regulation, they can pack millions of birds and pigs in close quarters. Good for profits.

Cuomo is sleazy and playing God. He is deciding which NY citizens live and die. He's decided to sacrifice Upstaters.
Cuomo re ventilators, "We'll return them, when we're done." Apparently the State of Oregon has fallen for that and sent him 140 ventilators. SMH.
We need to treat this and other things like we do defense products. We need to actually place health at the same footing as we do defense.
