What is Trump's deal with having churches open on Easter despite the current situation? He previously wanted the nation to reopen for Easter, now he wants to seek some exceptions for Easter church gatherings? Is he just stupid or just playing to the evangelical base? Why is he looking to put people in danger like this?
Anyone who wants to go to a place of public worship should be free to do so, provided they sign a fully binding agreement that they forfeit all medical care until the pandemic is over.

If there are no signs of sickness in isolated pockets then why not?

The virus was already killing people in the Seattle area, about an hour’s drive to the south. But Skagit County hadn’t reported any cases, schools and businesses remained open, and prohibitions on large gatherings had yet to be announced.
On March 6, Adam Burdick, the choir’s conductor, informed the 121 members in an email that amid the “stress and strain of concerns about the virus,” practice would proceed as scheduled at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church...."
All 60 people felt fine during choir practice. 45 of those 60 ended up infected. 2 died.
