That's because the only people that doctors put on ventilators, are the patients who are in such bad shape they are already an inch from Death's door.
Covid-19 is particularly rough on the lungs, causing fluids (pneumonia) in the lungs, hardening and cracking, making it even harder to get air into and out of the lungs. Far worse than ordinary pneumonia or flu.
If they didn't put the patients who are that critical on ventilators, 98% of them (or more) would die. With the ventilator, 88% die.

Yes, those being ventilated under the proper protocol are very far along, from what we're told.
Just because POTUS suggests ideas which are not efficacious does not make him stupid. He may be naive but he cares enough to risk embarrassment of his ideas even though incorrect. Another reason to revere him. He is not PC so he not afraid of being wrong....

Ultraviolet light has disinfectant properties and is used in cleaning hospital rooms, manufacturing prior to packaging and others. It also has applications to sterilization in the hospitals however to my knowledge it does not have direct effect on the human body.
