Yet somehow, after 2 1/2 months, life is getting back to normal in China. This is why I listen to “experts” with such skepticism. Common sense is usually more reliable.
Keep in mind that you can't believe everything the Chinese are telling the rest of the world.
That’s what some of the crazy people are saying. It’s not realistic to keep the country shut down. I guess those that want to stay locked inside their homes for two years can if they wish. Have fun with that.
Let me ask a series of questions for clarification:
Is it crazy to save lives?
Is it crazy to prevent the hospital system from crashing?
Is it crazy to have this last until we a vaccine and treatment that can contain it?

Can we make the economy work with those guidelines in place? Surely, other countries already are.
Yes and it will take the US going more socialist. We will need Universal Basic Income to help.
Asian cultures typically wear face coverings while it does happen in Arizona with those that have respiratory issues including Valley Fever, especially during brown cloud and dust storm season.

Well then I hope you will be self quarantining each time. I won't pay for your stupidity.

You can stay in the house all summer that's not going to work for me

It is crazy to shut down the economy indefinitely
It is crazy to put people out of work
It is crazy to to not think about the mental health of millions
We can't risk the mental health of our population. Millions will be depressed about being isolated and losing jobs. Want to save lives of the depressed?

I see you dodged the questions and answered with your own... I'll answer your's but I hope you answer mine when you reply.
The economy is shutdown and would be even if social distancing didn't happen. It would happen because either people would choose to stay at home, (this actually happened with movie theaters as Captain Marvel's box office beat out the entire box office of the first two comparable 2020 weekends on its own) or we had guidelines put in place.
It isn't an ideal situation, that's for sure. It is basically a Sophie's choice where neither outcome is good and honestly I think we would end up with unemployment regardless. A Sophie's choice is an extremely difficult decision a person has to make. It describes a situation where no outcome is trulypreferable over the other. This can be because both outcomes are equally desirable or undesirable.
Mental health versus physical health, another Sophie's choice.

No one wants to think about that right now and just focused on May 1st
