Which brings up a salient point: why bother collecting taxes in the first place if they can print or conjure whatever amount they need and then hand it back to you? Just kill the IRS and cut out the middle man.

I get a tax deduction from donations.

Everyone has 2 options:

1. Take the standard deduction of 24,400. (or whatever it actually is)
2. Add up your mortgage interest, SALT to $10K, charitable deductions (the big 3)

If #2 > 24,400, then you (basically) take the entire amount as a deduction. NOT just the portion over $24.4K.

Americans are a great people. WE send more aid to other countries than all the other civilizations combined.

YOU my friend are a shining example of that.

BTW, my wife and I are cat activists and have saved dozens from the streets and certain death.

I'm with you on that!

This why Jackson killed the central bank in the first place. We can thank the greedy geniuses who gathered secretly on Jekyll Island who collectively screwed the United States.

I support a flat tax, but that's not what we have right now. Do you receive discounts on things you buy? or lower prices? We all do.

Our current taxation includes discounts... called deductions. Everyone pays something.

That whole concept in and of itself is ridiculous and pointlessly creates govt meddling in the economy where it is not needed.

I don't disagree, but we must deal in reality.

Ever heard of Modern Monetary Theory? Might want to take a peek into it. There's a reason why that's the dumbest idea ever - unless your goal is to blow up the entire US economy as we know it and start over from square 1.

The Federal Reserve - The Treasury Dept - and Congress (IRS goes under here - power of taxation per our Constitution) - and all associated powers granted to each of them all work together to make the economy work.

Nope. 45% of all US 1040 filers pay no federal income tax whatsoever. Zero. But they still get Fed Gov services and benefits. That shouldn't be happening. Implement a flat federal incom tax rate. Everyone with income should pay their fair share.
