That's a value judgment. Who's in more need of help? A $200,000 income household that's about to go bankrupt? Or a $50,000 income household that isn't?
Because it's literally true that not everyone needs help.

Also, a 200K income household that goes bankrupt will have a MUCH easier time rebuilding than a 50K household that goes bankrupt.

The situations simply aren't equal. Those at the bottom prevented from working have it much worse than those higher up the financial food chain. Just how it is.

Since you can't help everyone, you do your best to help those with the most need....also, again, if you shell out more to those at the top, it's those at the top who end up paying for the bloated bill...so you aren't really doing anything but making their taxes skyrocket.

A lot of people are lying in this thread.

If you get the check, cash it and do what you will with it.

There is always someone or some business who could use a boost in these times.

Now isn’t the time to let your pride get in the way.

There will always be a top, if one or two fall and can't rebuild, they'll be replaced by those who are better than them.

If those high salary people can't take the hit and rebuild, they don't deserve to be at the top anyway.

Nope. Why do you say so?

Again, no. That's just a figment of your imagination.

Oh here we go.... ignoring a good point and accusations of not caring, so typical for a leftist.

Yet you ignore that I said you need an education on finance. It's called an EMERGENCY fund. Also note that I didn't say not to do it, I said you need to learn how to handle money and save an EMERGENCY fund.

Apply the inverse. Why can't that work the other way? If those at the bottom fail and can't rebuild, replace them with those who are better than they are.

It's interesting that this worldwide pandemic makes it okay for the "no welfare!" people to take money, but other types of hardships that affect people every. single. day. don't make it okay for those people to take money. It's almost like there's a bit of hypocrisy going on here....

(And this is coming from a moderate liberal who HAS an emergency fund and is still working and not depending on getting $1200 but understands that many, many others need a safety net for this situation and many other situations.)

See that, you don't need it because you were smart enough to put money aside for an emergency and are a fortunate to still be working. Even if you were not working you are prepared for something like this.

So what is wrong with educating people to do the same.
