I hope the Trump admin has plans to re-open the economy in the next week or two -- the longer this shutdown continues, the harder it will be for the economy to recover.
The whole shutting down the economy was a really bad idea.
Wrong...it is because the amateur and professional sports closing seasons, large corporations cancelling events, Governors issuing stay at home orders....and then finally after all of that Trump and the Trump media recognizing the threat and promoting social distancing that we may end up on the lighter side. The American people did a pretty good job here...the Trump administration not so much.
That would be scary. The APEX hasn’t even occurred for NY, let alone other states that are just now becoming hot spots.
The backlash of the virus would be further catastrophic.

Its not just going to bounce back. Was watching interesting PBS thing on Spanish Influenza of 1918. Actually didnt get to watch all, it was pre-empted by daily governor chat on coronavirus.
Look, if govt did nothing, when significant number people start dying quickly, people freak out. The economy is screwed in a pandemic whatever. Better if it at least looks like govt is doing something. By way back then lot politicians in complete denial just like today. Until reality put their nose in it where they couldnt deny it.
Most modern epidemics and pandemics run their course, probably wipe out at most 3% to 5% of population at most. Unless like back with Bubonic Plague where people were clueless of hygiene and that fleas on rats breeding in open sewers were spreading the bacteria, this meaning it went on forever until somebody got a clue.
But everybody is worried about being one of the 5%.
Some politicians are worse than Others, but when someone ignore the situation for months caused more deaths and record unemployment.

When we are allowed to operate again, things will turn around rather quickly due to the robust economy prior to this artificially created meltdown.
Yeah. We could have been South Korea instead of Italy. And those who think this is just going to turn around right away are in an ever shrinking minority of economists.
