Medical procedures are way overdone in the US due to profit motive.
Are you on board with ending the for profit health care system now?
Does it compute how pay for service with more expensive service meaning higher payment, how that maybe doesn't equal the best health outcomes?
I've had to personally decline invasive dental procedures that were offered to me as being the best option and direct my providers in a more holistic direction toward the treatment I knew was better. That's how sad our for profit system is. Imagine how terrible it is for those unwilling or unable to self educate to that extent about medicine.
In general though, I don't think ventilators are being overused for covid patients.

The article said Medicare. "Medicare for all" is socialized non-profit, isn't it? I'm confused.
I am not a doctor, but those things are generally one of those things you actually need it or not, no wayward reason or "just in case" thing like a CT scan or MRI can be.

I'm not referring to any specific proposal to fix it, just describing the current terrible system.
