Trump said the federal government was a backup and the states should take care of themselves. He forfeited the authority to dictate to the states when and how they will open up.

Neighboring East Coast states and neighboring West Coast states are working together to do it right not a one way works for all approach.

So he didn’t do anything in the peak of the crisis which forced the governors to step in and now wants to take credit by saying he has the authority and the president will reopen the country.

Really?

A disturbing number of Republicans on this forum are now actually suggesting we just cancel the election and offer Trump the dictatorship.

It was embarrassing to see Trump talk about his absolute authority over the states. He has clearly never read the Constitution. We have a president in power that thinks he is a monarch instead of an elected official. I know Trump supporters love the idea of authoritarian strongmen, but hopefully the general public and moderates feel uneasy enough about statements like these to help throw Trump to the curb in November. Could you image the bedlam from conservatives if Obama had said something like this? Where are the freedom-loving Fox News pundits that are supposed to be denouncing this attack on American values? The GOP is spineless and will sell us all out in the long run as long as they gain more political power from it.

With power comes responsibility.........Trump doesn't seem to get that.

He thinks he has the power and no responsibility

His role is also supposed to be that of a public servant. He doesn't get that either.

It's always interesting to see the pro-big-government and pro-federal-overtax try to use taxes as a weapon. The fed shouldn't be taxing people so much to the point where people need to rely on federal funds.

You and some others are being counterproductive to the best interest of the country with false accusation, and constant political spin. Grow the heck up.

He said that a few days ago. TODAY he said HE is in total control. Next week he’ll say he doesn’t take responsibility for anything. Maybe the days are running all together for you.

I know it’s hard to keep track of the President’s lies and delusions.

I do believe that by the time November comes around he’ll be saying “I know more about the Chinese virus than anybody I know”.

It isn’t TDS. President Trump thinks “the economy” is like a mall: you can close the doors and you can open them. It doesn’t work that way.

He’s believed his own lies. He’s in his own little world. He is delusional...and he’s craving adulation like never before.

They can open theaters, restaurants, parks, massage parlors, etc. It doesn’t mean people are going to go. I know my family and I are not going.
