Cuomo got off to a rough start with Covid-19. He made mistakes that cost lives. Democrats will purposefully ignore these facts as he is one of if not the most visible member of their party.

Not canceling the Chinese lunar New Year's parade with thousands of Chinese tourists coming in and encouraging people to attend in mid February was dumb. He took too long canceling school for the year when his state was the epicenter and teachers and petitions were demanding school to be canceled as several teachers got sick. He was told to buy more ventilators before the outbreak and declined.

On the other hand, once he realized that this was a real problem, he has done well and is now organizing other states to coordinate. He has been more mature than Trump who makes jokes about doing models during pandemic press conferences. Cuomo at least looks and acts like a leader since SHTF, he has recovered after a slow start.

Republicans will ignore this leadership, because he outshines Trump as of late and is a rising political star.

Moreover his slow response fits in with the vast majority of world leaders and doesn't stand out when compared to other slow responses like Trump, Conte, Trudeau, Macron, Merkel, Johnson, etc.

I think this is going to be true of pretty much every political leader.

This is an unprecedented virus / event, once in a century. I don't think anyone knew what the best course of action was without much more data.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on him as well.
