There are plans in California for the STATE to give coronavirus benefits for the illegal aliens living there. So if the state has the money for this, then they don't need federal help.

Repeat; the stimulus check is issued to us because we filed taxes and we are US citizens. If you deserve one, we deserve one. Period. sheesh
I'm not getting a check because I make over $99,000. I'm also an essential worker risking my life every day. Yet I get nothing.

And yes California has a state fund that's going to be used to provide stimulus checks to illegals precisely because the federal ones aren't going to illegals, though if Pelosi and Schumer and Pocahontas had their way, the federal money would be going directly to illegals nationwide too.

1. Some democrats at the national level are (so far unsuccessfully) trying to make it so illegal immigrants will get the stimulus.

2. California is promising state money for illegal immigrants since they aren't getting a national stimulus. This is arguably doable as a states' right, but it also couples with California's obstruction of letting national agents enforce national immigration law in their state.

Personally, given the circumstances I am not necessarily opposed to what California is doing.

Yes, if Newsome is able to give checks to illegal aliens using a special California fund, then he can use that fund to pay checks to all California residents vs spending tax money like mine from out of state. I'm from a state where we believe in secure borders and in stopping illegal immigration, yet my tax money goes to California even under normal circumstances.

You still have a job. The money is to help the lower income folks who are not as fortunate as you. You should ask your boss for protective gear and combat pay.

In fact, you remember all the politically correct goodies Pelosi wanted to attach to the stimulus bill, like how all companies getting loans must have a "diversity officer" and look at how many people of each color are on the board (not that this should matter), or how any airline that gets money must submit a plan to combat climate change.

Maybe in the next package Republicans should insert something that says ANY employer receiving stimulus funds or special loans must prove that they use e-verify and are taking steps to prevent the hiring of illegal aliens.

In the US yes most liberals support illegal immigration. But in Europe, many liberal Europeans who support socialist medicine, abortion, and gay marriage are VERY opposed to illegal immigration or to immigration and refugees in general.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/16/us/ca...nts/index.html

This from liberal CNN specifically says that California has a separate fund started by Newsome that will directly pay STATE STIMULUS CHECKS to illegals, and that illegals can register to get their money. So my thing is, given that California has so much money in its budget that its able to provide giveaways to ILLEGALS who don't even have the right to be there, why do they need federal assistance? Don't they have enough money to deal with the crisis themselves within their state?

The more sane people trapped in California, under normal circumstances, should ask themselves how any tax increase is justified (they have the highest taxes in America) when the state has money to give to illegals? Even, why should California ask the federal government for transportation funds if they have the money to give to illegals?

These are two separate issues.

If the Fed is giving American taxpayers money (including your state) what would be fair about denying it, exclusively, to California taxpayers just because their governor has some harebrained plan to give STATE funds to illegals?

It's surprising that you earn over $99,000 per year and can't comprehend the difference!

SMH!

My state remits more money to the Feds than they get back.

Your state, Louisiana, is a net receiver of Federal funds.

My taxes overall, goes to support your state, whose policies I don't necessarily agree with, such as on health care and availability of reproductive services. Not to mention the historic corruption that goes on. And for its lax regulations on pollution - probably because your state is bending over backwards to the oil and gas industry (and believe it or not, we here in the Golden State aren't hostile to them - but we don't let them have everything they want).

So who's the taker here?
