Seems like so many of our elected politicians are millionaires, or even billionaires, before they ever even ran for office. Why? Why is that? Why can't we have more normal people getting elected? I'm talkin' everyday working-class folks more in touch with everyday reality. Is there something behind the scenes that goes on in politics that results on only wealthy earners getting on the ballot?

I want normal people in office for a change, not millionaires. But dammit, there's almost none of that available to vote for on the ballot. Why?

Because running for office takes vast amounts of money. Either a candidate has it, or the have to beg for it from people who have it

The question you should be asking is how are they so rich during and after leaving office.

Look at the content of these forums. Do you really want these people (including me) in charge of anything?

They have connections. People want to be around and support rich people. It is a feeling of if I can't be rich, then I'll be around those who are? There has always been a fascination in America about those who are rich and powerful. Just look at HOllywood. People look at celebs as otherworldly, intelligent, etc. I see no difference with politicians.

I think most of us are more qualified to lead than people like AOC.
