“ The first day President Trump mentioned the coronavirus in public, only one American was known to be infected. He assured the rest of the country it had no reason to worry.
“We have it totally under control,” Trump said Jan. 22 from Davos, Switzerland. “It’s going to be just fine.”

Behind the scenes, however, even some of his close aides thought the virus posed a much greater threat to the nation and to Trump.

Three months later, the United States leads the world in reported numbers of people infected and killed by the virus, with more than 39,000 dead. States, counties and local hospitals are desperately bidding against one another for scarce ventilators and other lifesaving equipment in a marketplace dominated by chaos, profiteering and fraud. And the country’s economy is in free fall, with more than 20 million Americans filing unemployment claims in the last month.”

1st to stop travel from infected China; 1st to stop travel from infected Europe. Maybe "behind the curve", but ahead of the rest of the world. I'm okay with the job he's doing with handling it. He's put America first without worrying about being called a racist for his actions.

The travel ban was implemented Jan. 31 after 300,000 people had traveled to the US from China over the past month.

Modeling results also indicate that sustained 90% travel restrictions to and from Mainland China only modestly affect the epidemic trajectory...
So yeah, it had a mild effect. The results don't come close to what was achieved elsewhere though, such as Vietnam or South Korea.

More TDS nonsense from the "Let's blame Trump" crowd.
When he thought we had it under control, he said so. When it turned out to be out of control, he told us. CDC confirmed that person-to-person transmission was possible on Jan 30, and on Jan 31 he restricted travel.
Git a life.

Trump wasn't the only one at fault but he will take a lot of the blame for the fact that the US has fared so much worse than other countries.

When you are the leader of the country the buck stops with you on a lot of things, only problem is Trump still doesn't understand that.

At least you said he was not the ONLY one at fault. Bravo for admitting it. Most have no clue what the democrats were saying. https://youtu.be/9lhmy-KlaI8

Don't forget, while the U.S. has fared worse than some countries, we also fared much better than others. Only one country gets to claim the best status and that country will most likely be one that has the ability to control people in a way that we do not. However, NY & NYC will go down as the absolute worst in our country and look what the leaders of that state and city had to say. How much responsibility to they have for thousands of deaths? https://youtu.be/9lhmy-KlaI8

What is your point, that Trump failed us? I was switching channels last night and fell on Saturday Night Live. It was a repeat from Feb 29 2020 and the 2 guys that do the news were making fun of Trump like they always do and they were also making light of the Corona virus. So this bastion of liberalism that is SNL was still not taking the threat seriously on Feb 29.

We also have to remember that many of the top Dems were telling people that it was ok to go to the movies, to a play and to Chinatown in San Fran as the virus was taken hold.

Blaming Trump is just not right because no President has ever faced this type of crisis and I highly doubt that Hillary or any other Dem could have really understood any better how serious this would become.

Hindsight is 20/20.
What could and should have happened is that the Dems and their media should have put their hatred of Trump aside and for once worked with him instead of against and that could have saved lives.
