Iceland has the lowest fertility rate and follows the Nordic social welfare model. It also has the highest rate of out of wedlock births.

Poor countries with no social welfare have higher fertility rates than countries with high social welfare.

I'm not seeing that. For example, here are thousands of publicly-funded family planning clinics which disseminate various methods of birth control:

Outside of a birth control failure, it takes a very strong individual to buck the trend and choose to think parenthood through and all that it will undertake to successfully parent before "taking the plunge", to limit the size of their family, or to remain childfree.

In today's world, I believe it is a tragedy to have children if prospective parents cannot afford them - meaning financially, as well as emotionally and mentally afford.

I, for one, abhor those who decide to have a family and have little to no intention of actively raising them, leaving it to our schools and society in general to do so.
The fertility rate in the US has and continues to steadily decline.

What does giving it to the poor yield? More poor. Is that a responsible way to spend US national assets?

Please provide proof of that so we can break down the population demographics.

Amazing that today we still have young women and men growing up with no guidance, role models, self esteem, direction or goals who may think they are not worthy and allow themselves to be treated badly.
We need more education, mentors, opportunities and child welfare agencies that actually give a fig.

Let also not forget many of the (mostly) women who are on assistance were once actually married, likely in a lower to middle class situation and found themselves divorced, abandoned, getting little or no child support.

Its not al black and white, there are lots of situations out there that push people towards needing assistance. Our efforts are better spent trying to eliminate those factors instead of pointing fingers and placing blame.

The poor have no assets. They are not worth anything. They die young. They have nothing to pass along. You don't really see them, don't live with them, they just get on your nerves because they are there.

They just aren't going to do what you want, aren't going to be what you want. They will find a way to do damage, no matter what.

People complain all the time about those who won't change but don't provide a real solution for the large populations of people that will never change regardless of opportunity.

One solution would have been this - when you can do everything yourself, you don't need anyone else to do anything for you, unless of course you are willing to live with some parasites. That's insane.

Many here tend to forget about the men..
They always get a pass for some reason.

you are never going to change people nor this world--- nothing has changed in 2000 years or how ever old we are. Put your mind on more positive things -- like out of those ashes of poverty- great minds and people come forth, conquer all the advertises and become great musicians, teachers, doctors and so forth. I dont give up on them, for they were born with a purpose.

Funny how that works isn't it.
Being the mother of two sons and grandmother of two young men I believe men are equally responsible for their children and equally responsible for taking responsibility in avoiding unplanned pregnancies.
