Adoptive parents go through a strenuous background check. You're just grasping at straws now. I have no idea what you are talking about in your last two sentences. If adults acted responsibly in the first place there would be no wards of the state. What does third world countries have to do with this topic anyway?

But that is exactly what welfare does. It pays for the bad choices and mistakes. An abortion costs far less than child birth. Far less than medical coverage for the unwanted child and far less than the often 18 years of welfare.

Penny wise and pound foolish.

Me? Make Depo- Provera shots and condoms free at planned Parenthood facilities and doctor's offices. They are even cheaper than abortions.

It makes no logical sense to have kids if you're poor. Wouldn't you wanna provide a decent childhood for your kids? Instead of bringing them into a life of almost guaranteed poverty?
Sadly, there is no logic with most, being about a sexual urge. Most people are not thinking, but being irreponsible and allowing nature to take it's course, being about having sex. Many are not considering the consequences, some being due to "mistakes" or forced situations, usually no birth control use or family planning (except for rational adults to whom this matters). Some will think about their situation and know to not to add to their circumstances or to the population.

There are cultural, religious and other influences, the refusal by some to educate teens about birth control, having a resistance to Abortion, and whether it is the female, male or both deciding to bring a child into the world, it just continues. It disturbs me to see a young pregnant woman in addition to having two toddlers for instance, also creating forced marriages or single parenting. A Hispanic woman told me that in their culture, men will just "jump upon women when they want"...(not being the only culture in which this occurs, surely).

Then, being overpopulated, it contributes to the drain upon Assistance and Housing, envirionmental issues, not to mention the elements of Poverty, dysfunctional home lives, a lack of education, being raised unwell, possibly contributing to drug use, crime, prison overcrowding. Also, weddings, pregnancy and having families are still seemingly glorified. (Not that some families affected by poverty do not get ahead or that marriages or births always turn out poorly).

It would be good if teens would finally have it properly impressed upon them to understand how to end this cycle. As said, taking care of themselves and focusing upon their own growth first, then if financially and otherwise appropriate, extending the family. I realize that changes can occur along the way, such as what many are experiencing currently with job losses, etc. But using birth control and being responsible by both sexes is NOT that difficult. You would think by this late date, positive changes might have occurred in regards to.. but no.

Ignore my comments if you are not a black individual waiting to be adopted or have not been a child with a black mother and father. If you are, then you should know where I'm coming from. It is a whole different experience for this particular population than others. I'll not continue any conversations with anyone who doesn't get that.

According to this discussion, that is cutting them off completely. No questions. No compassion. No handouts from anywhere because they have the freedom to live the life they choose.

What are you taking about? People are also free to ask questions, give out handouts and show their compassion as much as they want.

As long as everything is done VOLUNTARILY.
