With the 273 additional confirmed infections, Kentucky now has 2,960 cases of the novel virus and 1,122 recoveries. Beshear also announced four new deaths on Sunday, bringing the total number of fatalities across the state to 148.
Recent protests broke out in several states—among them Kentucky, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan—with demonstrators taking to the streets to call for an end to the stay-at-home orders that have drastically slowed the country's economy, as well as the virus' spread.
Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said that the state had "not yet hit a downward trajectory" and called the required two-week decline in cases a "significant hurdle" that still needs to be overcome. Beshear, however, noted that some measures may be lessened in the next few weeks.
The pro-covid Trump supporters are going to reverse all the progress that has been so painstakingly made and prolong the shutdowns even more. No governor other than maybe DeSantis is going to pursue reopening as cases rise.
When will it sink in to people that trotting out 'positive cases' stats is MEANINGLESS without an indication of HOW MANY tests were administered and WHO they were administered to. There is a HUGE difference between the number of positives going up by 273 if you've administered the same number of tests as before vs if you doubled the number of tests and saw that same number vs if you increased the number of tests and didn't just focus on those who were suspected. That number by itself is just a number, stop treating it like it actually means something without any other context.
Theres no cure/vaccine. Tests are pointless when people are out trotting out all over the place ignoring what doctors are telling them. As long as people are out protesting and buying pointless crap in large groups, this thing is just going to multiply by the millions
It's a question of does Kentucky or any other state have the constitutional right to tell people they can't work or move about. Can the majority (most of whom have the financial means to whether the economic downturn) tell the rest that they can't work to feed themselves and force them to starve or steal to eat?
Well, if you head over here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ you find that's a pretty typical increase for any given state in the same ballpark as Kentucky for total cases. Iowa added 257 cases today. Delaware added 207 cases.
I think we all want there to be a logical correlation of things. X behavior will net you Y number of cases per capita. It hasn't worked out that way at all. Texas has numerous urban areas and is second only to California for overall population. Texas is very red and Republicans are calling the shots there, yet they're one of the least touched states with only 698 cases per million people and 18 deaths per million people. The same holds true in Florida, Minnesota, Oregon and others. There doesn't seem to be any magical formula. Hot states, cold states, urban areas, etc. It's incredibly inconsistent. There is no particular reason that New York City should be the hardest hit spot per capita by a pretty massive margin, but it is. There is no particular reason that Germany got only very lightly hit, but every country around them is going through hell with this thing. And "because people went out and demonstrated/partied/whatever when they shouldn't have" doesn't seem to explain anything, or Florida should be the worst hit state.
PS: Anytime the source is Newsweek, I gotta immediately fact-check. I grew up reading Newsweek and it was a great news source, but they've shifted ridiculously far-Left. They're giving The Onion a run for their money these days.
So are you linking the protests with the rise in cases? Do you know something they don't because the article did nothing other than make a ridiculous headline. Are any of the protesters in the new cases?

You and I will never know unless they decide to let us know - and I’m watching Michigan - no PPE - just long beards
