I think the best case scenario would be if North and South Korea are reunited under the South's system of government.

What will be the impact if Kim jong Un dies?

Not much. The next immature fanatic leftist will step up, and life will go on. Prisoners won't get released or tried, economy will keep sucking, all electric power will keep getting turned off at 5:00 every afternoon, people will still get bludgeoned into showing up at rallied and crying in joy at the ascension of whoever-the-next-tyrant is. Or else.

Plenty more where Kim Jong Un came from.

Likely this. They are all communists and all after all.

It would be SSDD.

That'd be nice.
Think the CCP would allow that?

My understanding is that Kim Jong-un wasn't very popular initially as a "secret child" of one of Kim Jong-il's mistresses, not his wife. There were also many in the government ready for reform at the time of Kim Jong-il's death.

Smuggled South Korean media is very popular in North Korea at this point, so there may be more appetite for reform than people tend to think.

It would be a nightmare. China would want to go take over NK. The NK army would try to retain control. Refugees would flood SK. The US would fight to prevent China from getting control of nuclear facilities. Widespread starvation of NK citizens.

It could happen with American support. No doubt there would be a serious pissing contest between China and the U.S. first.

China would have a hard time pretending North Korea is another "rogue" province like they do with Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Then again, they had no problem annexing Tibet, so who knows?

There is a lot of conflicting information right now. His kid or sister will take his place if he dies.

The sister is one hard looking woman. I wouldn't want to cross her.
