There are some people you just have to ignore, you are never going to help them.
For the vast, vast majority of people, it's considerably less serious than the flu. For some, it's considerably more serious.

Just the facts.

I have no problem with debating that, but pretending like this is just the flu is stupid.

the flu kills a reported 34,000 and an estimated 60,000 on the high end over 10 months with no social distancing and lockdowns.

Covid-19 has killed 50,000 with a majority stuck in the house and we know for a fact its being under counted.

It's working because they have better healthcare than the US. They can prevent the preventable diseases unlike here in the US...

South Korea is an example of what works. Sweden certainly not.

I like how posters parrot numbers within the same thread that has shown are meaningless.

And what are your numbers that show that they are 'preventing' the disease better than here in the US?

This thread is funny, and probably emblematic of CD in general. Folks taking a look at ostensibly the same data, latching onto the bits and pieces that fits their group think, and coming to totally different conclusions. It'd be amusing, if one doesn't think to hard about it.

Posted from another thread --- more on topic here.
'Fascinated that so many Americans think that something in Sweden would work here.
https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article...rn-from-sweden
Swedes are used to living alone, following rules and championing innovation.

https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/....irus-1.8754251
. “Like everyone, we are trying to slow down the rate of infection in order to avoid a situation in which too many patients will have recourse to the medical system at the same point of time. The differences derive from a different tradition and from a different culture that prevail in Sweden. We prefer voluntary measures, and there is a high level of trust here between the population and the authorities, so we are able to avoid coercive restrictions.â€

HEre in the south many of the states didn't implement stay home right away. You call it herd immunity policy -- that wasn't the motviation behind Sweden's policies -- it was more of a 'trust' to do the right thing.

Here in Charleston SC -- many businesses began with allowing folks to work from home, reduced hours, etc... similar to Sweden's policy........and what happened,it meant vacation time for those that had the luxury of 'working from home' ....so they headed to the beach communities during a pandemic.....those communities were inundated and eventually had to cut off access. Not because of any great authoritarian policy but because their stores/services were seeing more than the usual volume and it was creating a greater risk for the residents.

That didn't happen in Sweden.

So it is fine and dandy to try and compare but it is not really effective. First -- we don't know where Sweden is in the whole experiment so hard to draw conclusions....and everything is different here...everything. We don't have the same social programs and responsibilities.

That line is red is precisely why we have had as low of a deathrate as we have had, and it would have been much worse if we had not stepped up to the plate and stayed away from other people as much as possible. No one could begin to imagine how many more deaths would have occurred if we had simply gone on about life as if this was a nothing burger.

There are a lot of heros in this country right now, and the good Americans who made the sacrifice to stay home are right up there on that list. The selfish clods who still crowd beaches and think they are bulletproof are the real enemies in this country right now, but I think this virus will teach a lot of them how stupid and reckless they all have been.

Why do people still use that "testing" metric in any statement? Really baffling at this point.
South Korea is also much, much smaller than we are, and 50% of their entire population live in one area (Seoul).

Cowering in fear in your home and snitching on your neighbors is not heroic.

Notice how no one has been dying of the flu anymore? Not since January, despite flu season being in full swing.

Further, Dr. Fauci himself, the one that the left loves to hang on to his every word as gospel, told us in March that the 2nd wave of the flu season was upon us, and that we should be more concerned about that, than this virus.

But no one is dying from the flu anymore.

It's a miracle!

(I shouldn't need the sarc tag.)

The NY Times and a rep from Michigan already told us that the numbers are fudged. That cases where NO ONE TESTED POSITIVE for the virus are being counted as corona deaths. The Michigan rep stated that the 7 page order to mark all deaths as corona virus deaths came from the MN Dept of Health.

But sure, the lunatics who want to keep the country shut down are the intelligent ones who never ask questions, nor do they ever answer questions. They just insult and blame Trump, and call everyone else "selfish" and "dangerous' if people don't agree with them - those who sit in their high chairs with their bibs on, giant plastic spoon in hand, banging away on their trays begging for more government overreach.

This isn't about safety, despite how many bleat about it. It has nothing at all to do with "safety".
