Why are you talking about state debts when the subject is federal tax collection from states? Completely separate issues.
Really, from your point, it would be New York taking its federal tax dollars that are sent to red states, and spending it on itself. Is that unfair? I'm sure it'd be rough, the red states would be much much worse off without the money they receive from the economic activity in Democratic strongholds.
California profits bigly on the flow of cheap crap from communist China, then brags about how much money they skim off the top sticking it to American workers. Cali has no right to brag about anything, but that certainly doesn't stop them.

Cali makes the most money. Republicans claim to be proponents of the economy but trash the state with the highest economic output, that pays the most to the federal government so that poorer states can take their share. What gives?
