My guess is Trump is in obscene debt to both China and Russia.

Politico's statement on your *ahem* breaking news story

POLITICO’s reporting on President Trump and the Bank of China

POLITICO published an article Friday morning on President Donald Trump’s business dealings with China. (“Trump owes tens of millions to the Bank of China – and the loan is due soon.”) Since then, new reporting and information have led us to update and correct the article after publication.

What a shame.

This assertion, which was referenced in the headline as well as the story, was based on public documents related to the deal as well as property records. We sought comment from the Vornado Realty Trust, the primary investor, which didn’t respond to our request before publication. The White House and the Trump Organization declined to comment on the record after being told what we intended to report.

On Friday evening, POLITICO received a statement from a representative for Bank of China USA, which had not been contacted beforehand, that the bank had sold off, or securitized, its debt shortly after the 2012 deal. A spokeswoman said the bank has no current financial interest in any Trump Organization properties.

...
Our commitment at POLITICO is to journalism that gets its facts straight. We regret we fell short in this case.

How the heck can they get facts straight when they didn't have any facts from the main people involved.

They put their story out there without any input. And people wonder why Trump continuously gives them grief.

... smh ...

You are arguing they should check sources that are not available to them. Fine. But this "source" is not a source but rather a Kaiser Soze that no one can get to.

.
I'm arguing a fact checker should check facts. If they can't confirm them they shouldn't report them in the manner they did.

They failed. They failed because they aren't fact checkers, they are a politically motivated organisation writing for their predominantly liberal readership.

This is a case of Politico reporting based on official paperwork filed by the bank, and it turns out the bank (or so they claimed) made a mistake.

And then Politico issued a correction as any respectable publication would.

Fox News could learn a lot from them.

If true, this raises question as to why the Trump Organization didn't know the wrong bank has an official claim on their property. It could be a no big deal, or it could be really huge deal if ever there is an issue with the loan. They have this asset that is worth a lot of money and they didn't bother to check who has a right to it. Stable genius. SMH.

.
Ive seen this happen with a vehicle lien, my ex wife had bought this used truck (and it was a real lemon), after her 3rd payment, the financial institution claimed they didnt have this loan and knew nothing about it, (they returned her previous payments too)...

We even went to the courthouse and this bank was listed as the lien holder, but they insisted it was wrong, and they knew nothing about this loan, the DMV clerk said she has seen this happen before, some loans and people 'fall thru the cracks'.

She had to wait 7 years and then the DMV released the lien, (even though nothing had been paid on it). IT was crazy, Ive never seen anything like that happen before!

Trump the hypocrite.
Politico updated the link. The loan was sold to Vornado Realty Trust who brokers major commercial loan financing. Reportedly, Bank of America took a piece.

Trump Org has been out of the apparel business for a few years. All retail products, clothing, leather goods, jewelry, home goods, were made in China, Bangladesh and Viet Nam.

Trump Org could have distinguished itself and made it all in say, Queens, NY. But that’s not how the family rolls.
