His advisor warned it could be two years, and when it caused an uproar, he revised it - saying it could be shorter, like maybe 18 months.

So for the next 18 months to 2 years, there will be no weddings, no funerals, no Bar Mitzvahs, no religious holiday celebrations? Phase 1 restricts gatherings to no more than 10 people.

And Phase 1 was estimated to last 4 - 6 weeks, according to Fauci’s “gate” system. The lib governor has thrown those guidelines out and come up with his own excessively restrictive timeline that could keep us stuck in some limbo state for up to two years. Virginia will be the most oppressive state in the nation, people will move out, and nobody will want to move in.

Is that sustainable? I don’t think so

I only moved here two years ago.

Started regretting it almost immediately.

Northam is an idiot.

And these libs who are defending his draconian restrictions need to see what Phase 1 entails: Schools must remain closed, and visits to senior facilities are forbidden. He really wants to keep kids out of school and keep people from visiting their elderly parents for up to two years?

Oh, and Virginia used to be good. What happened is that the liberals from nearby Maryland got tired of paying the high taxes associated with liberalism, and settled here across the river. The problem is that they took their liberalism with them and changed the entire state.

As usual comprehension is not a trait of those who want to slam any Democratic leader, any reference in the article to this time line was not made by the Governor and the person quoted was referring to a possible time line for a vaccine to be available which then was revised to "Saturday morning, the Health Department clarified Oliver's statements, saying that producing a vaccine, a process that can take 12-18 months to be developed and tested, could take two years — not Phase One."

What happened is that the Heakth Commissioner said that Phase 1 would last until a treatment or vaccine is available, and that he thinks we will be in Phase 1 for two years. There was such a uproar that the Governor said it could be shorter, maybe only 18 months. There was STILL an uproar, and the The Governor had to backtrack entirely, pulling back his Health Commissioner’s statement.

This is a perfect example of a trial balloon, and that the Democrats will push their control as far as they can get away with. They backed down when they saw their people would not accept it.

That still doesn’t answer how The Governor can play with the statistics to keep us in Phase 1. All he has to do is show that during any day during the 14-day timeline that cases go up. Well of course they’re going to go up. They’re testing more people!

You are correct, the Health Commissioner made the statement as I said, not the Governor.

What trial balloon, to quote fearless leader "they took what was said out of context" re-reading the article all the quotes are from the "State Health Commissioner Norman Oliver ".

The Governor is following the Federal Guidelines that were put out:

1. States should have a “downward trajectory” of COVID-19 cases for a 14-day period before reopening, or a downward trajectory of positive tests for the same time period, given flat or increasing testing levels.

So how is his compliance with the Federal Guideline "playing with the statistics"? Are you suggesting that testing should not continue and we just move forward with the little data that is on record? Overall the state has gotten through this crisis with minimum impact and I think a large part of that was the Governors decision the take the steps he did early on.
