The problem is that when the media has shown such a leftwing bias and anti-Trump bias since day 1, I treat them as being a hostile force and not one to be trusted. Thus, the premise of the OP wouldn't surprise me. The media as a whole has a long way before it re-earns the trust of the American people.
It can't re-earn it.
Prior generations of true journalists understood this. It was a sacred tenet of eras past to be trust-worthy in journalism.
Once trust was lost, in this occupation, it is forever gone.
The media, which relies on income from the economy for its survival, is trying to destroy the economy?

Doesn't anyone who supports Trump think logically ? The media makes BILLIONS from ad revenue. It's their source of income. You Trumpistas think that the media wants to lose money ? You guys can't have it both ways. But then again what do I expect from people who defend drinking bleach.
With all this hype, all this terror, panic, end-of-the-world sensationalism that we are being fed day after day by the media. Is there any chance, given their history of trying this before, that they are using a common cold/flu to literally destroy our economy?
CNN leads the way when it comes to One Story Journalism, choosing to grasp the hot button du jour and run with it until they can't no more. What concerns me though is that there's a deeper plot going on. One that has been tried before recently and failed. Perhaps this is another attempt at destroying the economy for the sake of political change?
If that turns out to be the case, how can we hold them accountable?
You can't. If you do not like them switch channels or stop buying the newspaper's.
In my area the local paper has had to go down to printing 3 days a week.
The local ad's are gone because of the shut down.
Pretty sure the media is out to make money on ads, less business less ads.
The media is not reporting on this deadly illness for there own financial health.
I disagree, I think that the media most certainly had an effect on school closings, businesses shutting down, and sporting events being cancelled.
Please explain. Are your schools run by a School Board, or by the media? Is your company run by management and a board of directors, or by the media? Who's in charge of your town, the Mayor or the media?
The whole world is committing economic suicide just to stick it to Trump
And that actually makes sense to you........
The economic carnage will last for generations, and mainly affect the service sector folks, who are not swamped with alternative employment options. Simply put, industries will permanently shrink, requiring far fewer employees..permanently.
The short-term thinking right now is a giant mistake.
