Please let me know when no one dies in a car crash for 14 days so I can drive again.

We must not focus just on deaths, however. This virus causes a person to be ill for a very long time.

A person with COVID 19 often needs weeks, or even months, to recover. They may be released from the hospital, but then require weeks or months of respiratory therapy, or other such treatment. Or, many report simply not able to function due to severe fatigue, headaches, sore throat, etc.

The death count is appalling enough. But the number of people that are not functional is likewise appalling.
I've read the virus can be particularly debilitating for people like doctors and lawyers because of brain impairment due to lack of oxygen. The ventilators, in particular, are harmful. Thankfully, the docs are learning, in some cases, to manage this disease without them.

I agree, the death toll so far is an undercount.

I've posted this link before - which is a good composite of what I've read over the past few months the effects of this illness - even for those asymptomatic:

As one expert has said, this is a fearsome virus.

so, when you saw Trump, Fauci, and Birx stand up there, and the 2 scientists said 100K was an optimistic goal - what did you think?

The car crashes that happen in the future are not caused by that car crash. Got it? So try to find a comparison that makes at least some sort of sense.

With US deaths being 1.5k+ a day and we being at 88K dead, we should hit that if daily death totals in just over a week from now.

Why would the death toll be undercounted?

Isn't there also evidence of overestimation as well?
