The cases are dropping. The number of deaths/day are going upward.
I feel sorry for those who will not see their loved ones next Christmas.. My Cousin in Texas lost his wife last week. Very sad, we have not seen each other since 2019. A good woman gone.
Meanwhile, in Australia, which I only know about because I am looking forward to the Australian Open, things are so different.
After going almost two weeks without a single local case, one case has triggered a “circuit-breaker” lockdown in Perth:
“Perth and the Peel and South West regions of Western Australia will go into a five-day hard lockdown from 6pm local time on Sunday, after one new local COVID-19 case was detected in the state.”
Earlier, in Adelaide, just prior to the one case in Perth being detected:
“Thousands of cheering fans packed the stands on Friday to watch some of tennis’ biggest stars warm up for the Australian Open — with hardly a face mask to be seen
...
Australia has now had 12 days without a local infection in any of its states or territories, Health Minister Greg Hunt said at a news conference on Friday.“
The vaccine is doing it's job. Almost time to open to younger age groups.
Not yet. i am 82, a cardiac patient and have other significant problem. Been trying since the start of the year to get vaccinated along with my similar aged wife. Nothing. The State immunization line keeps telling us to try next week nothing available this week. Our two major doctors know of no way to beat it.
So lets finish the aged before opening to other age groups.
