Apple and Google combining forces to implement tracking technology. What would possibly go wrong for the citizens? Opt-in? And you believe that? This is right in line with China's continual tracking of its' citizens daily activities in the name of 'social credits'. But, if it's for 'public safety' to fight the Chinese Flu, it's all good, right?

How many sheeple here would opt in? Are our daily movements any business of anyone except ourselves? With this, it would be like having a LoJack jammed up your ass.

Since COVID-19 can be transmitted through close proximity to affected individuals, public health officials have identified contact tracing as a valuable tool to help contain its spread. A number of leading public health authorities, universities, and NGOs around the world have been doing important work to develop opt-in contact tracing technology.

First, in May, both companies will release APIs that enable interoperability between Android and iOS devices using apps from public health authorities. These official apps will be available for users to download via their respective app stores.

Second, in the coming months, Apple and Google will work to enable a broader Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform by building this functionality into the underlying platforms.

Your every move is already being tracked by your cell phone. You effectively gave up your privacy circa 2002.

Do you use Facebook? If so, you can bet that everything you post is being archived somewhere by someone.

Exactly. Everyone crying about privacy, HELLO you already gave up your privacy when you got on Google and searched for things. You have a cell phone now? Guess what you are already being tracked.

If Americans want this virus under control and for this economy to re-open they are going to have to embrace contact tracing or this will be a long and painful road ahead. I'm afraid though that this is just another thing that Americans will refuse to do just like wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

I would opt in to get our economy back to normal and so should everyone else. You are only tracked anonymously if you have contacted the virus, not on a daily basis.

Yup app folks around the world developing apps for the phone to help with tracing.

Problem - here in the USA folks don't like the idea of their whereabouts being tracked.

Yep. Even on this site, you should know by now that whatever you're posting, it's being stored somewhere.

And people who turn off your location services on your phone. As long as you have your phone on, and you're getting a signal, it's still getting your location from whatever cell tower you're bouncing off.

That's why if you don't want to play the game, leave your phone at home when you make a trip out.

Is there any far right conservative coding companies? LOL -- seems it isn't a trend in new technologies.
