"Michigan’s state of emergency is due to expire at the end of the day April 30. The emergency declaration gives the governor additional powers to issue executive orders during an emergency situation.Whitmer contends she retains emergency authority during the COVID-19 pandemic regardless of what the Legislature does, but Republican lawmakers critical of the administration’s COVID-19 response maintain a 1976 law requiring the governor to seek legislative approval for an emergency after 28 days applies in this case."

So it will be up to the courts to decide.
And which will come first:
1. A ruling either way
Or
2. The sun will begin the helium-burning process, turning into a red giant star. When it expands, its outer layers will consume Mercury and Venus, and eventually Earth.
It's going to be close. Check with Vegas for odds.
I understand what you're saying however, as I understand what happened was that they curtailed the governor's illusion of power, citing the 1976 law that they did not have the right to extend emergency powers without going through the legislative (vote) process first.

That was not my suggestion ... interesting how some people's mind works.

Michigan is still in tough shape as far as the virus, wrong time for the republicans to be pandering to the far right and ignoring healthcare professionals.

Question is what do the people want ... do the people understand how the American debts are paid to their debtors? Do the American people understand what happens if they default on those debts ... ? Do the people think that the u.s. can just print money out of thin air and all will stay fine in their world?
Our country has stayed sovereign for a lot longer than most others; what happens next in this country will determine if that continues or this country goes under and the people can kiss the freedoms that they are taking for granite, good-bye.
Sooner of later the u.s. economy will collapse beyond repair; that's a given. The question is do people want to see that happen sooner ... or later? The choice is yours. As always, it will be the people's choice.
That was not my suggestion ... interesting how some people's mind works.
Then what did you mean by:

What does "exercise the second amendment right" mean to you?
What is the purpose of showing up armed, if you don't intend to use your weapon?

To keep 'em honest. It also shows rival countries what they are up against as well, if this thing goes into over time and we end up having to defend the country itself. They are watching us. What we do will determine our freedoms --- or is that something people don't care about anymore, since fear has taken hold?

Some of them armed.
If this is not a coup attempt, then it's awfully close to it!!! The protesters have the ballot box for recourse. This isn't like 1774, when the colonies had no recourse via elections to Parliament. THAT is the difference. That puts the armed protesters outside the scope of political activities appropriate for America.

Did I stutter on the keyboard? And if what you say is true, then we're fkd. Nations do fall you know.
How do you take out a country that has enough fire power to level a continent? 9-11 showed us how that is done and it wasn't by taking out towers and the lives of 3000 people. The u.s. over time did manage to pull out of the economic tail spin --- how are we doing now?
Anyway, they can storm the capitol all they want. Whitmer ain’t changing a damn thing.
True that, just like all them bus loads of kids went to protest over at Washington on gun control and they didn't change anything either. We still have our second amendment. But, I can see Trump and DOJ sending in the National Guard to remove Whitmer for abusing her power and be supported by the Supreme Court. Also, thanks to this video, we know which cops are not holding up their oath to protect the constitution of the USA and they too can be held accountable when the lawsuits start.
