Reversible spellings aside, why do we welcome into our society those that don't want to assimilate?
It’s virtue-signaling. Liberals (no offense!) have convinced themselves that they are morally superior by being so accepting and welcoming to “the other” (and that would include illegal aliens). The problem, as has been so well revealed throughout this forum, is that liberals pick-and-choose which “other” they are willing to accept. First kicked off the welcome-wagon list: those who disagree with their political opinions.

If I had my way every immigrant should take an oath to vote Democratic and apply that to later generations. My ancestors and their peers must have been.

That's odd, since you've said on these forums that you are planning to vote for Trump (or likely to). That means you would want to require immigrants to vote against the candidate you think is better for our country.
And my ancestors all voted Democrat. But it was a different Democratic Party then, and they wouldn't even recognize what has become of their beloved Democrats these days.

I am likely to be breaking my great-grandfathers' oath, and my paternal grandmother's oath. The oath said "if I forget thee oh Democratic Party may my left hand forget its cunning." (with apologies to Psalm 137:5). I will repent on Kol Nidre, presumably by Zoom, and make amends to my fellow Democrats to the extent that this sin is against them and the Democratic Party, for which sin Yom Kippur does not atone.
