Really bad timing at this moment in history. I hadn't heard this, that the CDC had drastically cut its China staff under Trump.

Trump’s Response to Virus Reflects a Long Disregard for Science
At a March visit with doctors and researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the public health agency at the heart of the fight against the coronavirus, President Trump spoke words of praise for the scientific acumen in the building — particularly his own.
“Donald Trump is the most anti-science and anti-environment president we’ve ever had,” said Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian at Rice University. The president’s actions, he said, have eroded one of the United States’s most enviable assets: the government’s deep scientific expertise, built over decades.

It’ll fall on deaf ears around these parts! Someone will be along shortly to defend the Donald!

As far as I can tell, the CDC is utterly useless. In spite of billions in funding and years to prepare for this exact scenario, they failed spectacularly. It's the private sector, as usual, that will get us through this. And to think leftists want the government to run our nation's healthcare system. Incredible.

The CDC has had it's budget reduced by ten percent but in spite of that warned the administration two years ago of just this possible scenario:

We have a president, who doesn't believe in science, or even basic common sense. What could possibly go wrong??

It makes sense. Donald has a pathological need to always be the smartest guy in the world on anything and absolutely everything. The guy is basically the world's most insufferable know-it-all. So if he can't understand it, then it must be crap.

This is his very logical thinking, and since he actually has such a poor intellect, he ends up disregarding almost everything that comes from established standards of human knowledge.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. A complete lack of knowledge is deadly.

blame his constituency.

98.35% of his supporters don't know squat about science either.
