That is because we constantly are learning new things about the virus. Of course that means things change week to week, even on the daily. The virus is an iceberg and we are scratching the surface and still don't know what lies under the water.

As for the numbers it shows that many don't understand forecasting and models. Models are based on a formula and when new data is inputted, it can alter numbers. I don't recall a 1m death toll for the US let alone 2m from any model. I heard 200,000 and that was with no social distancing measures. I heard 100,000 when we started getting actual data in and not projections and it later went down to 60,000 based on early data reflecting social distancing. Now it is back to 100,000+ based on rolling back social distancing and the virus entering rural America.

And now Trump wants to dismantle the coronavirus task force because we're all good. No more Covid! SMDH.

Seriously, Nancy Pelosi was talking about Chinatown when this all first started, but I haven't heard her saying anything about it recently. However, Trump continues to put out lies and disinformation. It's a shame. We sure could use a good leader right now.

So Trump should have shut down the country then?
If he had responded early, he would not have had to shut down the country.

He could have followed real leaders, like Biden and Obama during Ebola. They kept their infectuous disease teams intact, worked with (instead of against) other governments, sent a team TO Africa to deal with it before it was America's problem, and limited exposure to us.

You seem to think the only option is shutting down. Well, only after blowing all other options. Maybe he should have step aside and hired Biden to lead his pandemic team, we'd be in a lot better position, based on history.

Have fun with this response.

Mid February is when this all first started?

What about de blasio telling his people to go see a movie, get out, during the first part of March 2020?

We have a great leader.

Fauci said the virus was no bigger deal than the flu in the beginning

The WHO said it was not contagious

Should Trump have gone against them?

Not only is he claiming failure to act, he is also claiming fraud.
Seems that Trump cronies and donor's being given lucrative contracts.

He will be on the Hill next week.

They are not his only source -You have many players out in the field - not just in the USA. He doesn’t trust anyone. That is the #1 problem.
He says it all the time. “Gonna have to wait and see” he needs to see the holes in Jesus hands.

I think you are re-writing history. Or maybe just conflating it.

All I remember is that Trump was ignoring it, and the rest of the thinking part of the country was going nuts AT THE TIME because the experts were saying it was a big deal, and Trump was telling us it was contained, and that any remaining risk was going to be cured by a miracle.

It was the second half of March before Trump came around the first time. ("first time" because he dithered back and forth a few times after that...)

I don't know what quotes from Fauci and WHO you are talking about, but I clearly remember people being upset with Trump telling us it was not a big deal, and "just the flu" when the experts disagreed. So I think you are probably either misinformed, or intentionally misleading.
