So the unhinged radical globalist left is clearly not wanting to "let this crisis go to waste". Today a group of Hollywood film stars are pushing for a worldwide agenda of "racidal transformation". They are voiceing objections to "pursuit of consumerism" and an "obsession with productivity," not to mention warnings about "ongoing ecological catastrophe"

Quote:
Hollywood stars sign opinion piece calling for 'radical transformation' in post-coronavirus world

A group of over 200 high-profile artists and scientists from around the world has signed an editorial published in today’s Le Monde, calling on world leaders and citizens “to undertake a profound overhaul of our goals, values, and economies,” in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, “if we want to avoid ecological disaster.” Signatories include Juliette Binoche, Cate Blanchett, Robert De Niro, Joaquin Phoenix, Alfonso Cuaron, Barbra Streisand, Madonna and Marion Cotillard.

Calling the “ongoing ecological catastrophe” a “meta-crisis,” the op-ed warns “the massive extinction of life on Earth is no longer in doubt, and all indicators point to a direct existential threat. Unlike a pandemic, however severe, a global ecological collapse will have immeasurable consequences.”

They also point to the “pursuit of consumerism” and “an obsession with productivity” which have “led us to deny the value of life itself.” Adds the group, “We believe it is unthinkable to ‘go back to normal,'” as coronavirus eases.

{More at the link, including the full translated text of the published, signed article}
The entire article is included in English at the link above. For those who know french, the original signed editorial was published in french in La Monde newspaper.

First, would any of us have ever heard of any of these people, were it not for the culture of "consumerism" through which they peddle their wares?

When they talk of "an obsession with productivity," that sounds like they are talking about work and careers, and people choosing to apply themselves in whatever ways that they legally perceive are most advantageous to them. Do these 'Hollywood stars' want to deprive people of the opportunity to pursue these ends?

As far as the ecology stuff, this is just more of the environmental clothes on the socialist control freak "climate" agenda. Anyone who does not see through this hokum by now really is in a mentally sad state of affairs.

Anyway, they talk a lot about what they are against. Can someone explain to me what these people are specifically advocating for here? What do they think is better, that they want to replace our work based culture with? How would this work and who would it actually benefit?

And right after they sign this, these hypocrite Leftists go right back to their $2000 a night luxury hotels, private jets, 18 room mansions, and 500hp Porsche’s.

Do as I say, not as I do.

At the very core of their argument, they appear to be opposed to "Work".

I am not sure how that can be taken seriously, especially without specific proposals for what happens as an alternative when everyone stops working, and what the ramifications of that are.
