As the Defense Department negotiates its way through the coronavirus pandemic and its fallout, military entrance processing stations are working with new guidance when it comes to bringing COVID-19 survivors into the services.
A past COVID-19 diagnosis is a no-go for processing, according to a recently released MEPCOM memo circulating on Twitter.
“During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying ...” the memo reads.
I'm just as curious to know the medical reasoning of this as the political reasoning?
And if this ruling would be adjusted once more becomes known about how this affects someone 6 months or 6 years after recovering from the virus.

I really do not know. Posted for some insight from others. Could it be unknown health issues that could arise as you stated, or health experts not convinced that the virus actually leaves the body. Could it be like Chicken Pox that can come back in the form of Shingles? Could the virus lie dormant in the system and be reactivated at some later point?
I saw a VICE episode on social distancing and wearing masks for Basic Training, it is a new challenge for the military, especially with recruits sleeping in open bays.
Considering that they predict the entire country is infected, why would this statement be issued?
To disband the military across the board????
They are at liberty of amending their guidelines on an as-deeded bases.
