I'm perfectly happy with my Honda Civic, thank you.
And me with my Mazda3. Zoom zoom.

I hauled a love seat in the hatch of a Ford Escort.
I hauled an oversized wing chair and its matching ottoman in a Honda Civic hatchback.

Can't see much if you stick to private roads, now, can you?

I like Mazdas. I would love a new generation Mazda 6 wagon not sold in the US. Companies quit selling most wagons in the US because We prefer clunky SUVs and trucks.
car life here, I would just rent a truck for a day if I ever needed one. pointless imo for daily commuters. but man people love them.
Same here. Home Depot lets me rent a nice pickup for $19.99/hr and with a cheap F-150 costing $30K, that's - carry the one - about 1,500 hours' worth of hauling to get a proper ROI. Nah.
So you would go with F-150 over Silverado? Thinking about getting one.
I've had both. 2018 Silverado Z71 4X4, 5.3 V8 (purchased new) and a 2017 F150 XLT 4X4 3.5 Ecoboost (purchased used with 12K miles on it).
The Silverado was so miserable that I got rid of it after 1 year and less than 5K miles. The F150 is simply a better truck. Handles better. Much faster. Deals with loads better. Better chassis dynamics. Just a better driving experience.
We need a truck because there is nothing else that works for this situation. This F350 should last us forever since there's only 127K miles on it. We will surely not be buying a new diesel at $70K. Sorry to anyone who has to pay that. We paid $33K in 2004 at 2 years old.
A friend of mine always bought expensive Euro sports sedans. He now drives a newer fully loaded, four door Chevy Silverado and says it is the best, most comfortable vehicle he's ever owned. It probably cost him close to $80K. No kids and two good incomes. My point is that pickups are the new Cadillacs of the road.
I currently own a 2018 BMW M550i, purchased new (about $90K). I've owned a 2018 Silverado. It is not in the same league as the BMW in any way, shape or form. Interior materials in the BMW are vastly superior to ANY trim level of the Silverado, as are chassis dynamics, NVH, handling, braking, engine performance, seat comfort, or just about anything else except rear seat leg room, trunk capacity, and towing. Of the dozens of pickups I see everyday, about .000005% have someone in the back seat or are towing something. About 1% have something in the bed.
Sorry, no. Pickups aren't the "new Cadillacs". You can slather leather on a farm vehicle, but in the end it still has an archaic body-on-frame design, a live-axle rear suspension, and is basically a work truck.

Yeah, I bought my GMC new in 1990. It's got 400,000 miles on it and is in the shop as we speak for a transmission rebuild and a shift kit.
I tend to drive with my foot into a little and the shift kit will give me a nice gentle thump as it shifts gears. Last year it got a paint job and later it will go in for engine rebuild and a new cam and manifold, which will increase the power from stock 215 to around 275hp.
Some of us just like our trucks.
