As Mao said, power comes out of the barrel of a gun. A certain minority of gun owners are very much on board with that philosophy. They get very unhappy if proper deference is not shown to the person who holds the gun and thus, has - or, in their minds, should have - the power.

Cruising around in your pickup, getting to question those you want, as the whim strikes you - and feeling that you have the right to their submissive obedience? That's power.

Did you miss the part where Travis was standing in the street with his shotgun and Gregory was standing in the truck bed with his gun?

We do know that at one point in the chase Gregory got out of the truck then when Arbery turned and went the other way he jumped in the back of the truck.

Out of curiosity, now that we're getting to page 515, is anyone still sticking to the original false narratives:
  • Arbery was just a jogger minding his own business.
  • Arbery didn't do nuthin wrong.
  • Arbery never did anything criminal in his entire life.
  • Arbery never did anything but jog and never did anything remotely suspicious.
  • Arbery was gunned down while he was in the process of running away.
  • Arbery was hunted down and lynched by white supremacist Nazis.
  • Nothing had been stolen in the neighborhood recently.
  • The McMichaels never communicated with the police.
  • Nothing was ever stolen from the property.

Pretty sure there's a lot more of them.

I remember many hundreds of pages ago that somebody vehemently insisted that we already have all the facts. Many many new facts have come to light since. Funny thing how that tends to happen.

Goal posts keep moving. Not very easy to keep up.

That's correct. They were out chasing him around armed and in a vehicle with their co-conspirator in a separate vehicle assisting in trying to block the victim in and video taping the incident. Once the unarmed victim took defensive action, they shot him dead and then threw up the "stand your ground" flag.

I do hope that the jury also comes to the same conclusion and prosecutes the guilty parties accordingly to the fullest extent of the law.

Which is exactly why they should have been arrested from the get go and let things be sorted in a court room.

These types of gun owners are a menace to society.

And that being the case, three civilians with no police authority should have done nothing more than keep the suspect in sight and 911 on the phone.

What fun is that if you can instead hunt them down and kill them?

To the three involved, (father, son/nephew, and Roddy) they were 911. Even though "Daddy" had been removed and relieved of any and all police duties he may have had in the past.

Yeah, why did they instead want to have a 'chat'?

I guess it's just their misfortune that the police had asked the McMichaels to help out then. So do we prosecute the police department for that or the McMichaels?

But ultimately, these guys are two doors down from the house that Arbery was entering illegally. When he realized they'd spotted him, he ran away. Why run away if you weren't doing anything wrong?

As far as I can tell, the only crime the McMichaels committed was being white, getting attacked by a black guy who was attempting to flee from a crime scene and shooting the black guy when it was abundantly apparent that the guy was going to kill one or both of them. So what's the crime there? Being white. That's about it.

Do any of you armchair legal experts think this is going to hold up in court? Seems you're a lot more interested in whipping yourselves into a rage in preparation for the destructive and violent riot you plan to participate in when the jury comes back with a not guilty verdict.

Do you believe the guy with a gun was wrong in this case? The only clear differences: The guy with the gun is black, the criminal is white and the criminal didn't try to attack the guy with a gun.
